TCP/IP Services and Hummingbird Maestro?

» close window

The Question is:

I'm running UCX V4.2 on a VAXstation 4000-60 running OpenVMS V5.5-2 (72MB).
I am using Hummingbird Maestro as my client. Everything appears to be
configured properly except I have to reset my NFS server process on the Vax
several times a week as it stops
responding. I have 120 clients.
I spoke to the CSC they said something about the number of processes. This
is set to 4 but only one is running. Do I need to run more and if so how do
you start more?

The Answer is :

The OpenVMS Wizard would first start with the TCP/IP Services for
  OpenVMS ECO kit.

You will want to continue discussions with the customer support center,
to determine the particular environment the and visible symptoms when
the configuration "stops responding" -- specific details on the error
message(s) or symptoms would be useful.

The UCX$CONFIG configuration command procedure can be used to set the
expected number of NFS clients. (Though the particular configuration
may be using NFS or PCNFS.)

Also consider trying a few other PC client packages, to try to localize
the particular source or incompatibility involved in the problem. Also
consider contacting the folks supporting the Hummingbird Maestro package.
(This could well be a problem in TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS, or it also
could be a problem in Hummingbird Maestro.)

On the OpenVMS host, check the following log files for errors:

    SYS$SYSDEVICE:[UCX$PORTM]UCX$PORTM_STARTUP.LOG
    SYS$SYSDEVICE:[UCX$PCNFS]UCX$PCNFSD_STARTUP.LOG
    SYS$SYSDEVICE:[UCX$NFS]UCX$NFS_<nodename>_LOGFILE.LOG
