Configuring HP LaserJet 6MP Printer?

The Question is:

 
I have an Alphastation 400 and would like to use an
HP Laserjet 6MP on the serial port TTA0: but everything
I have tried has resulted in garbage characters being printed
before the actual data. Is there anything I can do to get this
 to work.

The Answer is :

 
  Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center -- some indication
  of these "garbage characters" will be required.
 
  Postscript printers are generally accessed via the DCPS package.
