Maximum serial line speed? (PPP)

» close window

The Question is:

 I have a Vax 4000-100

I use multinet to get out to the internet
using a slip connection and tta port.

What is the maximum port setting I can use
on this type of Vax? Am I limited to 19200
baud by the hardware or can I set the 38400 +
speeds?

thanks

The Answer is :

The maximum performance is generally limited by the port hardware.

Console and certain in-built ports are generally not built for high
speed capabilities -- higher speeds can require a dedicated serial
controller, either to gain access to higher speeds or to lower the
  interrupt load on the system.

Check with Multinet to see what maximum speed is supported, and then
test the serial port at the desired speed.
