Problems with BACKUP ALIASES and Y2K ECO?

» close window

The Question is:

I did install a Y2K patch kit on my VAX 4000-100
with OpenVMS 5.5-2 (VAXY2K01-U2055).
After that I could not do a BACKUP any more, because
the following error appears :

%cli-F-syntax, error parsing "aliases"
-cli-e-entnf, specified entity not found in command tables

Does the wizard know what is happening with my system ?

The Answer is :

It appears you have a BACKUP.EXE image that is newer than the version
  of the DCLTABLES.EXE in use.

First log out and back in, then confirm that you have the latest and
current (highest version) of the DCL command tables installed, then
confirm that you have DCLTABLES.EXE in SYS$COMMON:[SYSLIB] and not in
any system-specific root, and that you have BACKUP.EXE in the system
root SYS$COMMON:[SYSEXE] and not in any system-specific root, and
confirm that the latest version of BACKUP and of DCLTABLES is installed.
If this is a cluster, you will need to issue the INSTALL command on
  the other nodes.

Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center, I expect there will
be some interest in knowing what sequence of ECOs or problems caused
  this particular situation.
