Tracking down data corruptions in shared files?

» close window

The Question is:

I wonder if this cluster configuration is allowed: two Alpha's 4100, each
with three TULIP network adapters. One adapter of each server is connected
to a port of a 10Mb switch. A second adapter of each server is connected to
to a port of another 10Mb swi
tch. Both switches are located (and interconnected) in a DEChub900. The
third adapters of each server are point-to-point connected to each other
with a UTP cross-over cable. Is that right?

If not, can this be the cause of corrupted data in shared files?

The Answer is :

Corrupted data in shared files is not caused by the configuration of
network controllers. Corrupted data is caused by hardware errors, by
software errors, and by uncoordinated access.

As a start, please apply the available ECOs for OpenVMS, including those
for RMS, for the XQP, for cluster-related functions, for volume shadowing,
and for the relevent network and storage device drivers.

Please contact the Customer Support Center for further assistance in
tracking down the cause of the data corruptions.
