Help configuring LAT services? (DECserver)

» close window

The Question is:

I am trying to configure a DECserver700 to replace an existing Emulex
server. All the ports have been configured as per the existing one, but I
cannot find any documentation to tell me how to set up the services (eg VAX1
and VAX2). Please can you help?

The Answer is :

Typical LAT services are configured on the OpenVMS host, and not on the
  DECserver terminal server.

That said, various DECserver devices can offer services. These are used
for "reverse LAT" connections, to allow the host to connect to a DECserver
port for tasks such as printing and outbound modem connections.

Ensure that the LAT service groups are set to the same values on the
  DECserver and on the host.

For information on configuring LAT services and service groups on OpenVMS
systems, please see LAT$SYSTARTUP.*, and see the OpenVMS System Management
  documentation:

    http://www.openvms.digital.com:8000/72final/6017/6017pro_096.html#6017lat

Information on configuring service groups on the DECserver are generally
available in the DECserver documentation and in the HELP (often in the
"advanced" or "privileged" HELP text) in most terminal servers.

Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center for further assistance.
