Serving tapes via TMSCP? (DSSI)

» close window

The Question is:

i am trying to share a tz887 tape drive system with an alpha server that is
in our cluster.

the tz887 is currently connected via a dssi bus,. while the alpha is not. i
have enabled tmscp.

the alpha can see the disk drives that are served from the cluster, but not
the tape drives.

what am i missing here.

thanks.

The Answer is :

Enable tape serving via CLUSTER_CONFIG or CLUSTER_CONFIG_LAN.

If the TZ887 is connected to the DSSI, the both DSSI ISE involved
and the OpenVMS host system serving the tape must be configured in
  the same tape allocation class.

Please see the OpenVMS FAQ for information on configuring DSSI
ISE settings such as the allocation class.
