Need for Shadowing or RAID for PAGEFILE?

The Question is:

 
For a high availablilty configuration, would it be adviseable to shadow the
disks providing the page and swap files ? Assuming host based volume
shadowing and configurations designed to minimize, but certainly not
eliminate, paging.
 
 

The Answer is :

 
  Without shadowing or controller-based RAID, an (uncorrectable) disk
  error underneath a pagefile or a swapfile could potentially crash an
  application or even crash OpenVMS itself.
