More proxy entries? (NET$PROXY)

» close window

The Question is:

Dear Wizard,
We've hit the maximum number of local User on a proxy - i.e. 16. But we'd really like to add more... Can you assist with a work around or alternative solution? We're running DECnet-Plus V7.2-1 & OpenVMS V7.2-1.
I've tried adding using the DECnet number, but VMS spots that...

Any assistance gratefuly received!

REGards.

The Answer is :

Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center directly if you
wish to pursue this, as this will involve an update to OpenVMS.

The DECnet Phase IV limit is hard-coded at 16. (NETPROXY.DAT)

The DECnet-Plus limit and the DECnet-Plus proxy database (NET$PROXY.DAT)
could arguably handle more than 16 proxies, via the use of the provided
  proxy system services.

Potentially extensive discussions of this particular DECnet network
security environment have been deliberately left out of this discussion.
Remote users with access to this many local usernames is very unusual,
and is a practice that is not usually recommended. Use of DECnet server
tasks, use of sets of identifiers on (fewer) local username(s) via the
proxy, or other related approaches would be far more common.
