Third-party SCSI device support?

The Question is:

 
hOW TO SET UP QLOGIC 1041 PCB FOR OPENVMS. HAVE A 500A, SWITCHING OVER TO VMS
 AND AM HAVING TROUBLE SETTING UP A QLOGIC 1041 SCSI CONTOLLER. WHAT ARE
 OPTIMAL SETTINGS UNDER SRM, ISP1020_EDIT FOR BOTH FAST SCSI (IBM DRIVES-9GB)
 AND NARROW (IE., CDROM). tHE
RE SEEMS TO BE A GREAT DEAL OF TROUBLE BOOTING FROM THE ide SIDE AND i'D RATHER
 STAY WITH SCSI ANYWAY. tHANKS

  exist here in the OpenVMS Ask The Wizard area.  By using third-party SCSI
  widgets, you are accepting the onus of testing and integration, and this
  effort can range from the trivial to the involved to the infeasible...
  This work has already been performed with OpenVMS-supported SCSI devices.
