DECwindows warning bell pitch and volume?

» close window

The Question is:

I installed VMS 7.1-2 on my systems, along with DECwindows 1.2-4. After this
 installation the pitch of the warning bell was very low and too loud on my
 AS-800.

Is there any possibility to change the pitch or the volume of this bell on
 Local DECwindows terminals? I know that the pitch is somehow related to
 sys$ikbdriver.exe. Switching off is no option in my case.

Yours sincerely,

M. van Eck

The Answer is :

  The OpenVMS Wizard will assume you have seen the DECwindows session
  manager keyboard settings for the bell?

  Note: With the GRAPHICS ECO kits for OpenVMS Alpha V7.1-2 and V7.2-1,
  and with OpenVMS V7.2-1H1 and later, the DECwindows Motif sliders are
  (now) inactive when using the DECwindows Motif interface, and the
  DECwindows CDE interface sliders (now) work correctly.

  With the most recent GRAPHICS ECO and DECwindows Motif installed,
  or with DECwindows Motif on V7.2-1H1, use the following to provide
  numeric values for the bell volume, pitch, and duration (respectively):

    $ @decw$utils:decw$define_utils
    $ xset b 1 100 100
