The Question is:

 
Is Compaq working on developing hardware/software that allows for
creating native files-11/ISO9660 standard VMS CD's on a CDRW or
DVD RAM device for Alpha systems?

  OpenVMS Engineering has successfully tested a few DVD readers
  with OpenVMS, but has not extended support to any particular
  DVD readers.
 
  Discussions and preliminary work around formal support of CD-R,
  CD-RW, and DVD and DVD-RAM are underway, but no schedule and no
