TURBOchannel network options?

» close window

The Question is:

What high speed network adapters are available for turbochannel systems?
We currently have FDDI, but our institution wants to standardize on 10/100 Mb
 Ethernet. We have a mixture of DEC 3000 M400, M600, M800 & M900 systems
running VMS V6.2 but will be upgrading to V7.2 in the next few months. Using
 10Mb e-net is a last reso
rt.

Thanks for your help.

The Answer is :

You clearly have the DEFTA-series TURBOchannel FDDI controller.

If you have FDDI and TURBOchannel systems, seriously consider the
installation of an FDDI to Fast Ethernet bridge or switch.

The OpenVMS Wizard is not particularly aware of a wide variety of
available TURBOchannel network controllers, and is not aware of
TURBOchannel Fast Ethernet nor Gigabit Ethernet controllers from
Compaq. (There may well be a third-party adapter in this space.)

The TURBOchannel ATM (DGLTA) controller is supported on various
DEC 3000 boxes for point-to-point (non-Cluster) connections. (The
DGLTA is not supported on all TURBOchannel systems.)
