BACKUP and version limits?

» close window

The Question is:

It seems that setting a directory or files in a directory to a version limit of
1 works fine when you copy files into that directory.

It seems like if you use backup to put files in that directory that you bypass
this and multiple versions are created. Is there any way around this.

The Answer is :

On-line BACKUP should honor the directory version limit.

BACKUP/IMAGE restorations and similar will create a new directory,
which may or may not have a version limit.

Acquire and apply the mandatory ECO kits available for OpenVMS, and
any kits for BACKUP, the XQP, RMS, and related components.

Without the particular DCL commands involved, a more specific answer
  is rather difficult to provide.
