PATHWORKS client unable to obtain license?

» close window

The Question is:

Hello Mr Wizard. I have a vax4000 106a conected to 40 win95 users through
Digital Pathworks 32. We had a new girl start this week so I prepared her
computer by reinstalling win95 & pathworks on her pc. The problem is that
whenever she turns her pc on s
he gets an "Unable to obtain license from PWLMDDSCC05.01". Now when I go into
VMS system and type MCR PWRK$LICENSE_MANAGER and then go into "GROUPS" it
shows that I have 30 total licenses for PWLM.... and 2 available. My question
is how do I get this new
girl to be able to map a network drive to our mainframe \\tzny01\pwutil.
Another odd thing is that she can use the banking software which is IBS90
which she gets to through pathworks but I can't map a network drive to the
 mainframe.Does not being able t
o map a drive to mainfrmae have to do with the licensing message? Please help
Mr. Wizard.... Thank you so much.

The Answer is :

First, please make sure that you are requesting the appropriate
PATHWORKS license name. The question indicates PWLMDDSCC05.01,
  while PWLMDOSCC05.01 would be expected.

  Second, please check the log:

	pwrk$logs:pwrk$license_server_<nodename>.log

to see if there are any CLIENT_LICENSE_DENIED messages. If so, the
message should include details of the license name and group that
  failed.

Then, if you are still encountering licensing problems, please contact
the Compaq Customer Support Center directly, as a network monitor trace
and additional examination of the configuration will be required.
