Cannot start SNMP?

» close window

The Question is:

On my Alpha running OpenVMS v7.1-2, UCX version 4.2 ECO 3, I cannot get SNMP
 started. I have faithfully followed the procedure outlined at
 www.openvms.digital.com/openvms/products/mgmt_agents/install.html, but SNMP
 refuses to come up.
The Operator log shows only that the SNMP server has been activated, but gives
 no clue as to why the process will not stay installed and/or running.

The Answer is :

  The OpenVMS Wizard will assume you have tried to restart TCP/IP, as
  a test. Check the IP and SNMP log files (if any), the accounting and
  auditing files for relevent condition codes, and check the current
  TCP/IP Services product documentation, located at:

    http://www.openvms.compaq.com:8000/

  The OpenVMS Wizard would encourage the use of TCP/IP Services V5.0A.

  Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center. Expect to be asked
  for additional details, such as the output from:

    $ ucx sho config snmp/full
    $ ucx sho version/all
    $ ucx sho service snmp/full

  Also check that all relevent processes are running, and are in valid
  and expected process states.
