Managing Deep Directories?

The Question is:

I am in need of some help with Purging files.
I have a large system with a large Directory tree.
VMS cannot see below 8 directory levels at a time....i have many more than that
as the system is connected via pathworks to a NT share.
The problem is DISK space - we need to purge the disk down regularily However
with the Purge command it will ony go down 8 directory levels and then cannot
 see any more.
The branches go off in branches that go off in branches ETC...
Is there another way around this - a script would be a nightmare to write!!!
I just want to be able to purge every directory on the disk no matter how many
 levels.

Please advise if you have any idea - Any help is greatly appreciated.

The Answer is :

Upgrade to OpenVMS V7.2 or later and use Extended File Specification
(EFS; ODS-5) support? This support provides direct and easy access
to very deep directories, and the volume-level conversion over to the
EFS (ODS-5) volume format is trivial.

Alternatively, use concealed rooted logical names to hide up to eight
directory levels. This permits access to up to sixteen levels.
