Determining cause of (recoverable) disk errors?

» close window

The Question is:

I have an image backup on a TZ88 tape cartridge. I restore the image to my
system, issue a command to show the disk device, and it says that there were
 35000 errors encountered.
Note that the log to the screen does not report any errors. Why is this???
How can I be sure the image is restored correctly??

Note that I am booting from CD-ROM for both the save to tape, and restore from
 tape.

Thanks

The Answer is :

Please check the system error log, and please contact your hardware
support organization. (It would appear that the disk errors are
currently considered to be recoverable.) Given that you are restoring
a disk BACKUP, the OpenVMS Wizard will assume that you have seen some
unspecified problems, and that the disk involved is potentially failing.
