PATHWORKS on Windows ME, Missing Protocols?

» close window

The Question is:

I can t install pathworks 7.1a on Windows ME the LAT protocol and decnet always
 disappear after restart of PC

The Answer is :

PATHWORKS 32 V7.2 is the latest release of the PATHWWORKS Client
software. V7.2 supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0,
    and Windows 2000.

At this time there are no plans to add Windows ME support to
    PATHWORKS 32 V7.2.

The Wizard has heard of some users successfully using PATHWORKS 32
V7.2 on Windows ME. The following are suggestions which may help
you (when trying to use this unsupported configuration):

    - some users have successfully installed the PATHWORKS 32 Network
Connectivity components and/or PowerTerm 525 by going to the
appropriate subdirectory on the CD and directly running the
setup program. This by-passes the Autoplay program which does
an operating system version check. (If Autoplay does not
recognize the operating system, the program exits.)

    - Windows ME is compliant with NDIS5 but when you install
PATHWORKS 32 LAT and NDIS support, Setup announce NDIS3.
After install and reboot, open C:\windows\inf\DECNDIS.INF
and search for NDIS3. It finds two lines:

            ......."NDIS2;NDIS3" -->> change -->> ...."NDIS2,NDIS5"

save file and reinstall LAT protocol and reboot.

    - to get command line NCP to work you may have to copy PWENT.DAT
      to the windows directory.
