Meaning of Disk Device Error Counts?

The Question is:

 
seeing device errors when using command "show dev d" (see column Error Count).
 Are these errors significant? Should some type of disk maintenance be
 performed to get rid of these errors? What kind of maintenance or optimization?

The Answer is :

 
  Please contact your hardware service organization for assistance
  in diagnosing the cause of hardware-reported errors -- these could
  be transient and spurious errors, these could be caused by cabling
  or termination problems, or these could point to a more serious bus,
