BACKUP wait on idle buffer? (WAITIDLEBCB)

» close window

The Question is:

My nightly backup keeps failing with this message, "%BACKUP-F-WAITIDLEBCB,
attempted wait on idle buffer". It is single DLT tape drive. Also, the LED
requests for a tape drive cleaning everytime this happens. We have clean many
 times. In fact we have
clean it until the LED goes away. We have even replaced the this tape drive
unit 4 times and used brand new DLT tapes. Could you please help!!!!!

The Answer is :

Please move to a supported version. Please apply the available ECOs
for BACKUP and for the OpenVMS version in use. Please set the BACKUP
process quotas per the system management documentation requirements
for operator accounts. Please remove the (arguably entirely misleading)
/IGNORE=INTERLOCK specification as this permits data inconsistencies to
arise within files written to the target saveset -- those interlocks are
present for a reason of course, and should be overridden only with the
complete knowledge of the inconsistencies and corruptions that can arise.
Please also check the error log, and please have your hardware service
organization verify correct operations of your hardware.
