IP Ports, LPR/LPD Printing, and Security?

The Question is:

 
Is it possible to specify a port other than 515 when setting up and printing to
 a queue using TCPIP services for Open VMS.  I am using software to create a
 secure tunnel to my NT print server and need to print to more than one print
 server.  Hence I need
create multiple tunnels listening on different ports.  The tunnel software has
 this capability.

The Answer is :

 
  LPD typically uses port 515.
 
  Using alternate ports provides no particular security, of course.
 
  SSL, VPN, or similar such would be the prefered approach.
 
  If you need control over the target port, consider using the
  telnet symbiont.
