DCPS and Unrecognized Printer? (LaserJet 4200)

» close window

The Question is:

We use DCPS version 2.1 and are trying to set up a VMS print queue to an HP LJ
4200 DTN and are having the following problem after the queue starts and a job
is queued to it. The message indicator on the printer is changing from READY
 to Processing DATA
all the time. On vms a show queue command shows that the job is in the Starting
job state and it never changes.

Below is the logical we have defined on VMS for the printer:

DCPS$PRINT_ADMISSIONS_G_DEVICE_NAME" = "ip_rawtcp/printer-g.admission.swt.edu
:9100"

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

AND Have a happy new year!,

The Answer is :

The HP LaserJet 4200 printer is expected to be supported in DCPS V2.2,
a version scheduled for release soon.

It is possible to use the HP LaserJet 4200 as an "unrecognized" printer
in DCPS V2.1; in the current DCPS version.

In either case, the following command must be issued to use the HP
  LaserJet 4200 with DCPS:

    $ DEFINE /SYSTEM /EXEC DCPS$queuename_NO_SYNC TRUE
