Meaning of ECC Single-Bit Memory Errors?

» close window

The Question is:

what is ECC single-bit error interrupts?

The Answer is :

Assuming this is an OpenVMS Alpha system, the Error Checking and
Correction (ECC) hardware and software is detecting and correcting
a memory error. Single-bit errors are detectable and correctable,
while multibit errors may or may not be. If this problem report
persists and particularly at the same memory location -- memory
errors can be entirely transient -- please contact your hardware
  support organization for assistance.
