The Question is:

 
 We are undertaking a port of an enterprise
application from Unix to openVMS on alpha.
 
 1. Do the perl scrits need to be ported
to openVMS or is there support for perl?
 
 2. Is there a list of problem areas/ gotchas
when porting from Unix to openVMS?

  The OpenVMS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) is available.
 
  The OpenVMS FAQ discusses Perl.
 
  Open-ended questions -- any gotchas -- are effectively impossible
  for the OpenVMS Wizard to answer, given the nature and the complexity
  of the environment.  In general, please apply the mandatory ECO kits
  for the OpenVMS release in use, please maintain a supported release,
  and please see the support and ECO information and the ECO search
