Copying SYSUAF and RIGHTSLIST?

» close window

The Question is:

I have to migrate all the user profiles from an old VAX running OpenVMS V6.2 to
a new DS20 running OpenVMS Alpha V7.3-1. This involves the migration of
 SYSUAF.DAT, RIGHTSLIST.DAT and VMSMAIL_PROFILE.DATA.
The question: is the format of these files compatible between OpenVMS VAX V6.2
and OpenVMS Alpha V7.3-1? In other words, can I simply copy the user records
from the old files to the new files? (there are no duplicate entries, since
 the new files come from
a newly installed system - obviously I will not copy records such as
"DEFAULT", "SYSTEM", "SYSTEST", etc). I plan to perform the migration using
the same guidelines for merging SYSUAF, RIGHTSLIST and VMSMAIL_PROFILE when
 building a homogeneous VMScluster
(as found in Ask Compaq). Is this the correct way to do this operation?
Thank you very much for your help.
