Recover from INITIALIZE tape command?

» close window

The Question is:

i have formatet a tape with the command INITALIZE LABEL. Can i undo this, so i
can read the save_set before i do the command.
Please help me!!

The Answer is :

Assuming this is DDS or DLT media, the drive firmware will not permit
OpenVMS to position past the tape marks created by INITIALIZE. If you
require recovery of data located past an end-of-file (EOF) mark, you
will need to contact a data recovery service.
