Automating FTP File Transfers?

» close window

The Question is:

Ok well we have bridges our MS Lan and Vax using LAT, we currently have a PC`s
that connect to our VAX using Pathworks and LAT and can log in and run
terminal sessions. On one of the Pc`s we have the DECNET FTP Version 7.2.008
and manually copy 3 files ac
cross from the VAX to the PC.
We would like to automate this ? at present the user has to every day run the
utility and select the 3 files and then hit copy, when completed disconnect,
how can we automate the process using our LAT Connection ?

Comments gratefully recieved.

The Answer is :

OpenVMS V6.2 and later releases provide COPY/FTP and related commands,
though earlier commands can use the FTP utility directly. On OpenVMS,
you can create periodic batch jobs -- discussed elsewhere in the
OpenVMS Ask The Wizard area -- or can install a job-scheduling package
-- also discussed elsewhere. These command mechanisms can be used to
periodically copy files to or from a remote FTP server, for instance.

As for scheduling jobs on a Microsoft Windows environment or for the
availability or configuration of an FTP server in a Windows environment,
please contact a Microsoft Windows Wizard.
