DECnet Routing, Node Reachability?

» close window

The Question is:

I have a DECNET IV network with a routing node. When I turn this node off, all
nodes remain reachable (normal for me) except one and I don't understand why.
All nodes are in the same area and they seem to have the same network
 configuration.

Can you help me please to understand ans solve this problem? Thanks...

The Answer is :

The most obvious solution: you need the router. Leave it enabled.

When no DECnet router is available, DECnet does attempt to reach
other DECnet hosts directly on the LAN -- either this or the node
address caching would tend to account for the continued reachability
  of the other nodes.

Without details of the network topology and the addressing, no
certain answer is possible for the unreachable node.
