DLT Media Compatibility?

The Question is:

What type of tapes are used in a TF85? Are they compac III or TK70? Can the
TF85 or a TZ877 tape drive read or write to a tk70? Are the TK70 tapes called
 Compac II?

Thanks

The Answer is :

The OpenVMS Wizard would encourage direct discussions with your HP
reseller or HP representative, as the OpenVMS Wizard is not particularly
a hardware nor a StorageWorks expert, and not particularly able to
  answer hardware questions.

CompacTape II and DLT II are names of the TZ-series tape cartridge and
tape formulation used for TF70 and TK70 drives.

You are likely asking this because older DLT media is becoming rather
difficult to locate. Please consider an upgrade to a more recent DLT
series tape drive, as one approach to resolving this -- this upgrade
will also typically increase both cartridge capacity and media speed.

As for your existing tape media library, there are existing discussions
of media compatibility, and various newer DLT drives can typically read
media written on older DLT drives.

  Please review existing topics including (1286), (8133), (8417), (8682),
and other discussions for details on this and on media compatibility,
and pointers to supporting resources and documentation.
