External (Password) Authentication?

» close window

The Question is:

Is it possible (and how) to trust windows users on VMS ?

(I would like to synchronize my passwords: if a windows user change his
password, the equivalent VMS user should have its password changed
 automatically to the same)

The Answer is :

Yes, this is both possible and fully supported.

Please review existing discussions of External Authentication for
  related details.

External Authentication using LAN Manager, Kerberos and LDAP are
all supported by OpenVMS, and Microsoft Windows domains can be
configured to use various password authentication schemes
  including these.

Support varies by OpenVMS release, with OpenVMS Alpha V7.3-2 being
current as of this writing, and having support for the widest
  variety of external authentication interfaces.

For customization options, please see the $acm documentation that
  is available with V7.3-2.
