The Question is:

I have an ALPA DS/10 running VMS 7.3-1. I want
to set up print queus on the alpa to print to
printers connected to PC's and print servers.
What software do I need to do this?

The Answer is :

Regarding serial terminal or Windows-attached printers and IP printing,
  topics (2490), (2680), (4935), (5198), (8634), and particularly topics
(1020), (9311) and (9416), will be of interest.

As has been stated before, the OpenVMS Wizard cannot recommend using
host-based LPD due to the relative difficulty of supporting the
configuration. Particularly as compared with the relative ease of
supporting direct IP based printing using LPR/LPD or Telnet (or raw)
protocols; of supporting direct IP-based printing.

For particular assistance with and suggestions for the configuration
of your Microsoft Windows client and the cited client applications,
please contact the third-party vendors for the Microsoft Windows
operating system and any Microsoft or third-party products involved.
(The OpenVMS Wizard is not in a position to provide support for any
of these or other third-party packages, nor for Microsoft Windows
  itself.)

For OpenVMS, configurations using TCP/IP Services, or using TCP/IP
Services in conjunction with DCPS (DECprint Services), are the most
common choices. Third-party IP stacks are also available.

Most recent OpenVMS Alpha systems include software licenses for use
  of TCP/IP Services and DCPS.
