The Question is:
Why isn’t VMS seeing the DEGXA-SA as a NIC card?
We purchased 2 DEGXA-SA gigabit Ethernet boards for our Alphas. When the Alpha
turned on you can see the board as a EGA0 device at the console level
(isn’t EG a Fiber channel?). When VMS 7.3-1 is booted you can't see
the device at all with the $
SHOW DEVICE.
CONSOLE COMMAND:

dka100.1.0.3.1 DKA100 COMPAQ BF03664664 3B07
dqa0.0.0.15.0 DQA0 ATAPI CDRW 52X32 Y.AS

pka0.7.0.3.1 PKA0 SCSI Bus ID 7
pya0.0.0.4.1 PYA0
In SYSMAN we can see the board on the PCI bus but no device driver is loaded
against it and no UCBs are created for it.

The Answer is : The DEXGA series gigabit Ethernet (GbE) adapters are supported on various recent Alpha product lines; on a subset of the entire Alpha product line. Accordingly, please contact the support center, as information on the particular Alpha system(s) involved is required. If this is one of the supported Alpha platforms, you will want to have the LAN, PCSI, and UPDATE ECO kits applied, as well.
