Connecting to an Unreal server. Section 4
  After you have successfully retrieved the file that Unreal was downloading, you will be standing in a "Lobby" that has numerous portals. Walk up to each of these numbered portals and note the text that appears above each one. Choose one that is close geographically to you and enter it.

*The one portal shown in this screenshot (left side with a switch on it) will load your web browser with a list of servers available from the specific Online Gaming Provider.
     
  Once you have entered a numbered portal you will be waiting in an entry room (looks like a jail cell). You will remain here until the level has been loaded and you will then be connected to the server.

*When the server is changing levels you will be sent back to this room again until the next level is loaded.
