Screen Damage Protection Service Terms and Conditions (Service is offered in the U.S. and Canada only.)
Service Description Summary
VP7xx, Ultra 2000 Screen Damage Protection. This is a Supplemental Services offering and covers the replacement of accidentally damaged notebook screen only. The screen replacement service is "Return to Compaq" unless the owner has registered On-Site service or Passport service.
Eligibility
This Supplemental Service can only be purchased at the time the notebook unit is purchased. This service is offered on the VP7xx and Ultra 2000 series notebooks only.

Terms Of Delivery
The customer is responsible for returning the whole notebook (including damaged screen) to the designated repair depot. Compaq will pay for the return freight only.
Compaq Responsibilities
- Provide the customer a "Return Authorization Number" (RA#) as authorization to return the damaged notebook.
- Perform service normally within 48 hours from receipt of the hardware product in the repair center.
- Provide the labor and replacement screen required for the repair of the customers notebook computer.
- Ship the repaired unit back to the customer. Return freight paid by Compaq Computer Corporation.
Customer Responsibilities
Customer will:
- Purchase the Screen Protection Service at time of product purchase.
- Fill out the registration form at time of purchase and fax form to Compaq Computer Corporation. The warranty coverage begins when the registration form is received by Digital.
- When processing a claim, call Compaq for an R.A.#
- Package the product in either the original shipping carton or other appropriate packaging.
- Return the product to the designated repair depot.
Exclusions
- Notebook screens with Pixel problems are replaced under the standard product warranty of the unit.
- Broken or damaged screen will be replaced no more than two (2) times per year. The third time within the year the customer pays 50% of current retail price for parts and labor.
- The whole notebook unit must be returned for replacement of a damaged screen.
- Covers replacement of accidentally damaged notebook screen only. Any other damage to the unit (i.e. bottom plastic unit) will not be covered and will be considered a billable item.
Any service excluded by this Agreement and provided at the request, or with the Agreement, of the customer shall be paid for by the Customer on the basis of Compaqs current rates for material and labor in effect when the service is provided.
Term
This Agreement shall commence on the date of the service registration and will expire one (1), two (2), or three (3) years (depending on the Service purchased) from that purchase date.
