Hello to all who responded !!
   The answer is that, yes, you can print remotely
to a printer which only has an ethernet connection.
To do so, in /etc/printcap, specify
rm=123.45.67.89:\
rp=:\
I tried this.  First time it didn't work, but
I'll get there.  Thanks for the information !!
