Doug Knox is an Area Field Engineer from Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and the most prolific contributor in the Windows XP newsgroups, posting well over 2,400 responses in one month. "The Microsoft online communities are a great idea," he notes, "and I'm glad to be a part of them and look forward to continuing my participation in them." A self-taught expert in computer operating systems and programming, today Doug is a Windows XP MVP and one of the original Expert Zone Associate Experts. He has learned by doing: "I like to take the problem apart, and then find a way to automate the fix for it if possible," he explains. "Sometimes the answers are easy, and sometimes I have to try to duplicate the problem. I've actually wiped out an operating system—more than once—doing this." Today he helps other learn from his experience and publishes a Web site packed with Windows XP advice and tips: Doug Knox's Windows Tweaks and Tips. Doug’s PC includes Windows XP Professional Edition with an ASUS A7266 motherboard and AMD Athlon processor with 1 Gigahertz, 512 MB DDR RAM, 90 GB storage, IOMagic TNT2 M64 video, Creative PCI audio, Linksys LAN card, Cendyne 24x10x32 CDRW, IOMagic 56x CDROM, and Virtual PC for Windows for running everything from Windows 3.1 to Windows XP Home.
