NetWare Application Launcher v3.0: Creating Applications

To create a new application in the current container, click the new object button

Pick Application

Choose Create a simple Application object (no .aot/.axt file)

Give the application object a name and specify the path to it. Choose Display details after creation.

Done! Now you can set additional properties. Basically everything is different since NAL v1.x. This is the Identification tab:

System Requirements: Only show the application on compatible computers.

I assume the disabled options are features that require the full ZENworks 2.0 product. All of the Files options (File existance, version, date) are also disabled.

Disk space requirements

Memory requirements

Operating System Requirements

CPU Requirements (386 - Pentium III)

Environment tab

Distribution tab. I guess this is for installing things on PCs? Perhaps automatically?

Folders! More on these later.

Description

Drives to be mapped and ports to be captured.

Scripts

Fault Tolerance

Contacts

Associations. I guess this is who can see the application and it looks like you can control where it appears too (force run, app launcher, start menu, desktop, system tray)

Administrator Notes

Macros. Not sure what these are (a glance at the help button suggests these are basically variables you can use elsewhere in the Application Object properties)

Environment variables

Registry Settings

INI Settings

Application Files

Text Files

Schedule

Icons/Shortcuts

File Rights

Termination Behaviour (what should happen to a running application if you, eg, remove it from the user)

Application Site List

Reporting

A whole lot more than in v1.x. I think a chunk of this stuff is for applications created the other way - using the snapshot thing.
