NetWare for OS/2

NetWare 4.10 is the first version to bundle NetWare for OS/2 for no extra cost; previously it was available only as a paid-for add-on to NetWare 4.01. Its also the second-to-last version to support running on OS/2 (NetWare 4.11 was the last). It can be installed from the regular NetWare 4.10 Operating System CD and appears run fine on OS/2 Warp 3 under VirtualBox.

Virtualisation - Linux-KVM

• Installing the Documentation
• Installing all of the important available updates - fairly important to do this before using the OS2 or MAC namespaces.
• Merging the NetWare 4.10 NDS tree into an existing NetWare 4.11 NDS Tree resulting in one NDS tree containing two NetWare servers, one 4.11 and one 4.10.

The process is much the same as for NetWare 4.11, just with less hardware autodetection:

• Use the VNC display type with libvirt, not spice
• This driver disk should work with the PCnet-PCI NIC provided by qemu. The .LDI file has been customised to install the bits of the ODI 3.3 update the driver needs to allow it to be installed during operating system installation. You'll need to install the 410PT8B patch as well as the full ODI 3.3 update later on to make sure everything is properly setup.
• The IDE.DSK driver doesn't seem to work (no drives found) - use IDEATA.HAM instead. This won't appear in the driver list if you do a simple installation but you can still choose it via the Install and unlisted driver option and pointing it at D:\nw410\diskdrv (where D: is your CD-ROM drive)
• NetWare 4.10 won't see an IDE CD-ROM drive without updates. Until updates are installed you'll have to use a DOS CD-ROM driver
• The OS2 and MAC namespaces (required for long filename support) must not be used without installing updates first (the new version of the namespace mouldes is not backwards compatible with the old version).
