These are the drives I currently map for NetWare clients.
Mostly I'm trying to map drives from the end where possible to reduce the chance of conflicting with local drives. Currently H drive is the only one with a chance of conflicting with something but it should be pretty unlikely.

Drives R and W are available for DOS/Win16 use for stuff that won't be accessed from OS/2 or Windows 9x/NT. Perhaps use these for network booted systems to store DOS/Windows files.
Table lists them in the order they're mapped. These will just take whatever the next available network driver letter is so may move around depending on other fixed mappings and local drives. OS/2 does not support search drives so those will never be mapped on that platform.
Type | OS/2 | DOS | Win16 | Win32 |
S2 | %FILE_SERVER\SYS:PUBLIC\%MACHINE\%OS\%OS_VERSION
Next | %FILE_SERVER\SYS:
Next, if ADMIN/SUPERVISOR | %FILE_SERVER\SYS:SYSTEM |
Drives L and P are available for search drives on all DOS/Windows platforms.
I'm not a netware expert, don't have any of those fancy novell certifications and have never administred a netware network; I've just played with it at home occasionally since 2004 or so.
